Olympia Chiropractic Auto Injury Treatment

Olympia auto injury recovery and treatment by TJ DelorieEvery year, there are millions of auto collisions in the world, and a significant number of people end up getting hurt in a crash. While most crashes are "minor," chronic spine pain are still common health problems. The good news is that chiropractic care is a fantastic way to treat these kinds of injuries.

We've helped many auto injury patients in our Olympia office, and TJ Delorie has been treating people with these types of problems since 2002. During a collision, your body is subjected to large forces that it simply wasn't built to deal with. These forces put strain and stress on your neck, shoulder, and back, and can result in damage to the ligaments that hold your spinal column together. A collision can cause a wide range of pain issues.

A ligament sprain in the neck can result in pain, swelling, and radicular symptoms in the arm and hand. Chiropractic care works well for these types of problems, because chiropractic concentrates on restoring the healthy function and flexibility of the injured areas.

TJ Delorie, your Olympia chiropractor, can help by reducing irritation in the damaged area and can help minimize the creation of scar tissue that can cause chronic pain and disability.

You don't have to suffer from auto injury pain. Discover more about how we can help you recover here or call TJ Delorie today at 724-123-1234.

Olympia TMJ Pain and Auto Injury

Olympia TMJ Treatment by TJ DelorieJaw pain is a fairly common problem reported by people after a car crash, and it can be tough for some doctors to identify the root of the problem. Complicating the issue, very often you won't develop TMJ pain until many weeks or months after the original injury.

TJ Delorie has helped many people with jaw pain after an injury, and the medical literature explains what produces these types of problems. During a collision, the tissues in your neck are often stretched or torn, causing ligament, muscle, or nerve injury. This can obviously cause pain in the neck and back, but since your nervous system is one functioning unit, inflammation of the nerves can cause pain in other parts of your body.

For instance, with radicular pain, irritation of a nerve can cause tingling or numbness in the arm and hand. Similarly, it can affect parts of your body above the injury, like your head and jaw. Headaches after a collision are very common because of neck injury, and the TMJ works the same way. TJ Delorie sees this very commonly in our Olympia office.

Research shows that the source of many jaw or TMJ problems begins in the cervical spine and that treatment of the underlying neck injury can fix the secondary headaches or jaw symptoms. The key to resolving these symptoms is simple: TJ Delorie will work to restore your spine back to health, reducing the inflammation, treating the injured tissues, and removing the irritation to the nerves in your spine.

TJ Delorie has found that jaw and headache issues often resolve once we restore your spine to its healthy state.

If you reside in Olympia and you've been hurt in a crash, TJ Delorie can help. We've been treating auto injury patients since 2002, and we can most likely help you, too. Give our office a call today at 724-123-1234 for an appointment.

Prevent Back Surgery with Chiropractic

Each year, over 500,000 people have back surgery in the US. Although sometimes it's necessary to have surgery for back pain, the reality is that if you can avoid this type of invasive procedure, you're often better off.

TJ Delorie is here to make sure that patients in Olympia have a healthy, non-surgical option for back problems. We've helped many people heal from back pain without the need for surgery.

There are plenty of reasons to avoid unnecessary medical procedures: Surgeries often result in a longer recovery time and complications, neither of which is an acceptable scenario. Luckily, as one study has found, chiropractic adjustments may actually keep you off the surgeon's table altogether.

In this report, 1,885 workers with back injuries were examined over a three year period. When the workers first sought care with a surgeon, over 42 percent ended up having surgery for their pain. For subjects who saw only a chiropractor, only 1.5 percent had surgery!

These findings indicate that chiropractic care can help you recover from back pain without surgical procedures.

If you live in the Olympia area, TJ Delorie can probably help you with your back pain. Give our office a call today at 724-123-1234 for more information or an appointment.

Low Back Pain and the SI Joint

We help a large number of men and women with back pain in our Olympia office, and TJ Delorie finds that many cases of back pain stem from the sacroiliac (SI) joint. Investigation has revealed that about one quarter of all back pain begins in the SI joint, and now fresh research corroborates what we have noticed in our office: chiropractic is an effective way to treat this issue.

In the study released in the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, thirty-two women with sacroiliac joint syndrome were separated into two groups and asked to participate in one of two treatment therapies. one group went through a chiropractic adjustment isolated to the sacroiliac joint, and the alternate group received an adjustment to the sacroiliac joint as well as the lumbar spine.

Researchers observed greater improvements in both pain and movement immediately following treatment, two days post-treatment, and 30 days after for the patients who had been given high-velocity low-amplitude manipulation to both the sacroiliac joint and the lumbar spine. This demonstrates that chiropractic manipulation applied to these two areas offers both short term and long term results for sacroiliac joint pain sufferers—even with just a single treatment session.

Therefore, if you are dealing with sacroiliac joint pain, or have back and leg pain and are ready to see whether your sacroiliac joint is the root, a consultation at our Olympia office could be the first—and best—step towards feeling better. Give our office a call today at 724-123-1234.

Migraines Helped by Chiropractic

Olympia natural migraine treatment by TJ DelorieWith the Migraine Research Foundation reporting that migraine headaches affect 38 million people in the U.S. (more than diabetes and asthma put together), it's no surprise that TJ Delorie treats a lot of migraine sufferers in our Olympia office. Although some folks try to relieve migraine pain with drugs, chiropractic care is a fantastic, all-natural choice that often produces positive results.

For instance, one study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics involved 127 people ranging in age from 10 to 70-years-old who suffered with regular (at least monthly) headaches. Each subject received up to 16 chiropractic sessions. The patients noted that their headache frequency, duration, and disability two months before the study began, during the duration of the sessions (which was two months), and two months post-treatment.

What the researchers discovered is that chiropractic reduced the frequency, duration, and disability of the migraine headaches when compared with the control group who didn't receive chiropractic. In addition, this enabled them to take less medication for the pain, offering them an all-natural answer for a chronic problem.

Another report found that a combination of chiropractic and neck massage reduced migraine pain almost 68%.

If you have migraine headaches and are looking for help, call TJ Delorie today and request an appointment in our Olympia chiropractic office. We'll do what we can to help you become pain-free!

Faster Sciatica Recovery with Chiropractic

In our Otown office, it isn't unusual for us to see patients struggling with sciatica, and TJ Delorie has helped many of these people recover with chiropractic. What makes chiropractic so beneficial to those who suffer with this condition? For starters, it reduces their time of recovery and a Norwegian medical study confirms it.

In the study, which took place in a Norwegian hospital's orthopedic division, the authors looked at 44 patients who reported abrupt low back pain that was clinically diagnosed as acute sciatic nerve pain. The individuals were all treated by a chiropractor, with the average follow-up being two years after treatment.

The authors discovered that all but two patients went back to work after receiving chiropractic treatment, which is a 95% success rate. Furthermore, the average length of time that the patients spent off work "was reduced by two thirds as compared with that associated with conventional medical treatment."

Considering that the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that 170,450 days of work were lost in 2013 due to employees dealing with back or spine-related issues, that is nearly 112,500 work days that could potentially be recovered each and every year solely by receiving chiropractic care. Not only could that increase work productivity, but it would also reduce costs to businesses and workers from lost work.

If you live in Otown and you suffer with sciatic pain, TJ Delorie is here to assist. Give us a call at 724-123-1234 and we'll work with you to find the root cause of your sciatic pain and get you back on the road to health.

Natural Carpal Tunnel Treatment with Chiropractic

Otown natural carpal tunnel treatmentTJ Delorie sees a lot of people struggling with carpal tunnel syndrome in our busy Otown chiropractic practice. While some people think that the source of this wrist-related pain is muscular, it's actually a condition that arises from the nerves--and not just the nerves in your hands.

Recent research published in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy assessed 71 women between the ages of 35 and 59 who were diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome. Upon investigating the subjects' neck range of motion, the authors discovered that the women had reduced cervical flexibility when compared to a healthy control group.

In addition, it was also discovered that the level of the women's reported carpal tunnel pain was linked to the lateral flexion of the cervical spine. In other words, the less mobility in the neck, the greater the level of pain.

This study is very important, as you can't successfully treat a problem until you fully understand its cause. By recognizing that the root of carpal tunnel issues is in the neck, this means that natural approaches such as chiropractic can often restore normal function, reducing the need for risky operations.

If you suffer with carpal tunnel pain, call our Otown location and ask how TJ Delorie can help you get relief!

What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression therapy in OtownWe work with many back pain patients in our Otown chiropractic office, and TJ Delorie and our staff uses an assortment of techniques to help get you out of pain and restore your spine's normal, healthy function. We find spinal decompression to be an effective approach.

To help you better understand spinal decompression therapy, think of the discs in your spine like small balloons filled with jello. When you squeeze them (which occurs due to normal living, sustaining an injury, or other medical conditions), they can protrude, placing pressure on the nerves in your spinal column. This affects your brain's ability to communicate with tissues in the rest of your body.

If the pressure on the discs becomes too high, they can herniate or bulge. This reduces the padding between your vertebrae and can cause pain. The purpose of spinal decompression therapy is to alleviate this pressure to help improve your body's function and also reduce your level of discomfort.

Spinal decompression therapy relieves disc pressure through the use of a specially designed table that gently elongates your spinal column through slow and controlled movements. This decreases the pressure placed on your discs. Some studies report an increase in disc height by as much as 1.3 millimeters after just six weeks of spinal decompression therapy.

If you're wondering if spinal decompression therapy could help you feel and function better, simply call our Otown office and schedule an appointment with TJ Delorie today. Your optimal health is our number one goal!

How to Avoid Surgery for Back Pain

Although some people are still skeptical about chiropractic, even the American Medical Association (AMA) recommends that adjustments should be tried prior to surgery--the one option that should be a last resort.

TJ Delorie has seen many back pain patients in our Otown office who have been suffering for years and who are worried that they might need an operation for their back pain. TJ Delorie has had great success in helping patients recover and avoid risky surgery, and the science backs up our experience.

For example, in a study conducted on almost 2,000 Washington State workers who suffered from a back injury while on the job, more than 42% who saw a surgeon first following their injury found themselves having back surgery within three years. That compares to just 1.5% of the patients who first sought treatment with chiropractic, proving that this non-invasive approach is extremely effective at keeping you out of the operating room.

There are alternatives to risky medical procedures. Chiropractic is a proven effective and safe way to improve the function of your spine, which is the root cause of back pain. TJ Delorie has helped many patients in Otown recover. Give our office a call today at 724-123-1234 for an appointment.
