Relief from Asthma with Chiropractic

Olympia asthma care with chiropracticAsthma is a serious concern for many people in Olympia and for society as a whole, truly, since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that this condition currently affects almost 19 million adults and 7 million kids in the United States. A full-blown asthma attack likely means a hospital visit. Fortunately, TJ Delorie has helped many folks in Olympia get relief from asthma symptoms.

The medical literature confirms what we see in our office. For instance, a paper published in Clinical and Experimental Allergy assessed 31 adult asthma patients after receiving four weeks of chiropractic adjustments. The authors found that the individuals who received chiropractic adjustments had a 34% decrease in asthma symptoms.

The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics published another asthma-based study, except this one involved children. In this paper, the 36 patients ranged from 6 to 17 years in age and their asthma was regarded as either mild or moderate in severity.

After 12 weeks of chiropractic adjustments, as a whole, the patients reported a higher quality of life and a reduced level of severity. As a bonus, they also reported that they depended less on their bronchodilator and these positive effects lasted one year after chiropractic care was finished.

So, whether you're 7 or 70, if you have asthma attacks, be sure to contact TJ Delorie in Olympia and schedule an appointment today. We'll do what we can to help you breathe easier!

Olympia Cervicogenic Headache Treatment

Olympia headache care by TJ DelorieWe know how difficult persistent headache pain can be. TJ Delorie and our staff have worked with many people in our Olympia chiropractic practice, and we've had great success in helping folks eliminate their headache pain.

A 2016 research paper confirms what we see in our practice. In this study, the authors started with 110 patients who were suffering with headaches that originated in the cervical spine. 58 of these patients were given a series of neck adjustments; 52 were given some stretches and exercises. The treatment period for both groups was four weeks.

The study found that the individuals who received cervical and thoracic spinal adjustments "experienced significantly greater reductions in headache intensity, disability, headache frequency, headache duration, and medication intake as compared to the group that received mobilization and exercise."

The study also found that these outcomes were maintained at the three-month follow-up exam.

Chiropractic is a safe and effective way to treat chronic headache pain, back pain, neck pain, and many other health conditions. If you're tired of suffering, give TJ Delorie a call today at our Olympia office at 724-123-1234. We're here to help get relief.

Olympia Auto Accidents and Chronic Pain

Olympia auto injury pain treatmentIf you live in Olympia and you've been in a car crash, you need to know that you don't have to suffer from chronic pain.

We treat a lot of auto injury patients in our Olympia office, and many of these people are suffering from chronic pain caused by an old accident. As a matter of fact, research shows that a significant percentage of rear-end accidents lead to pain and disability even ten years after the initial trauma.

TJ Delorie is here to help you avoid developing chronic pain by helping to restore the natural function of your spine soon after a collision.

The most common causes of chronic problems are reduced mobility of your spine and the development of scar tissue in your spine. The ligaments of your spine can easily be harmed during a crash, and chiropractic works by minimizing inflammation and restoring normal movement.

If you're near our Olympia office, and you've been injured in a crash, don't wait to get treatment. TJ Delorie is here for you. Give us a call today at 724-123-1234 for an appointment or for more information.

Relief from Tension Headaches with Chiropractic

Olympia Headache Treatment by TJ DelorieMany people suffer from headache pain, and tension headaches are a common problem in our busy world. Postural problems and stress are common causes of tension headache pain, and ones that TJ Delorie and the team here in our Olympia chiropractic office have a lot of experience in treating.

The scientific literature confirms our findings: A 2016 study from Spain treated a group of 76 patients with chronic tension headaches. The participants were divided into four treatment groups: 19 patients were treated with suboccipital inhibition (the doctor presses on the tight tissues at the top of the spine); 19 with chiropractic adjustments; 19 with both adjustments and suboccipital inhibition; and 19 received no treatment.

The authors found that the spinal adjustments were effective at relieving pain, and that the best results were found when adjustments were combined with the suboccipital inhibition.

When we get stressed out, the nerves and tissues in the neck can be disrupted, causing pain. Chiropractic works by removing these stresses and restoring the normal nerve function to the tissues.

If you live in Olympia and suffer from any kind of headache, we're here to help you get relief. Call TJ Delorie today at 724-123-1234 for an appointment or more information.

Causes of Chronic Pain after a Car Crash

Olympia auto injury treatmentOf the over 2 million rear-end accidents in the US each year, a significant number of men and women find themselves suffering from long-term pain and impairment. Some research shows that 1 out of 5 people are still in pain 12 months after a collision.

TJ Delorie sees many auto injury patients in our Olympia office, and we often see people who have been suffering for many years and have not been able to find help. TJ Delorie has great success in helping these patients.

What Causes Chronic Pain after a Crash?

During a collision, the structures of your neck and back can be stretched or torn. The injured area becomes swollen and irritated and sends pain signals to the spinal cord and central nervous system.

Pain tells your body that something is wrong, which tells the muscle tissues in the injured area to contract to shield the area from further harm.

If the damage isn't addressed immediately, a negative cycle develops. The hurt area keeps sending pain signals and each time, your central nervous system responds. This produces a feedback loop in your nervous system that experts refer to as "central sensitization." Your nervous system basically becomes hypersensitive to any kind of stimulus, producing chronic pain.

TJ Delorie is able to help this kind of issue, as chiropractic is a proven way to restore the nervous system's healthy functioning. Research shows that chiropractic is effective at reducing pain from car crashes and shows that chiropractic in fact has positive effects on the pain centers of the brain.

If you live in Olympia and have been in a collision, you don't have to suffer with chronic pain. Give TJ Delorie a call today at 724-123-1234 for a consultation or appointment.

Faster Work Injury Recovery with Chiropractic

Olympia Worker Injury Treatment and RecoveryWhen you're trying to sustain your family, take care of your home, and pay all of your bills on time, every day at your job counts. Work injuries can be a serious problem for many folks, and we see many of these types of injuries in our Olympia office. TJ Delorie understands your situation and is here to help.

The benefits of chiropractic for work injuries are well-established. A 2013 research paper involving 651 adults who were suffering with either back or neck pain found that the people who didn't see a chiropractor missed work at twice the rate of those who were seeing a chiropractor.

So, why don't more people use chiropractic?

According to the participants in this paper, two of the major factors were that they thought they needed a medical referral for chiropractic care (which is typically no longer true) and they overestimated the costs associated with chiropractic treatment sessions by almost 70 percent.

The fact is, chiropractic patients actually spend less on care than medical patients, plus they are less likely to use drugs for their symptoms.

If you live in Olympia and you've been injured at work, we can help. Give our office a call today at 724-123-1234 for an appointment.

Chiropractic Offers Long Term Benefits for Fibromyalgia Sufferers

Olympia natural fibromyalgia treatmentIf you are struggling with fibromyalgia, you are not alone, as TJ Delorie sees many people with this particular problem in our Olympia chiropractic office. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that roughly two percent of all adults in the United States have fibromyalgia. Fortunately, chiropractic is one treatment option that can provide positive results.

In a study released in mid-2015, 215 adults with fibromyalgia were assessed based on factors ranging from pain to quality of sleep to the levels of depression or anxiety they felt. Then they were divided into two groups with one group receiving a multi-modal treatment program for three months and the second group receiving the same program plus chiropractic adjustments (specifically, to the upper neck area) for the same length of time.

The subjects who received chiropractic care combined with the multi-disciplinary treatment approach reported greater results in all areas (pain, sleep, depression, and anxiety) at three months post-treatment when compared to the study participants who received multi-modal therapy without chiropractic. Additionally, those positive benefits were lasting as the individuals reported continued improvement one full year later.

Fibromyalgia can substantially decrease your quality of life, both psychologically and physically. If you're dealing with fibromyalgia, we might be able to help.

You don't have to suffer! To find out what TJ Delorie can do for your fibromyalgia, call our Olympia chiropractic office today.

Olympia Spinal Decompression Therapy

Olympia non-surgical spinal decompressionTJ Delorie sees a lot of back pain patients in our busy Olympia chiropractic office. Many of our patients have some form of spinal issue that is causing them pain and distress. Fortunately, TJ Delorie has found that spinal decompression therapy is an effective way to help these folks.

Non-surgical spinal decompression is a treatment approach that takes all of the positive benefits that one normally gets from chiropractic adjustments, traction, physical therapy, exercise therapy, and myofascial release and combines them all into one.

The goal of decompression is to keep you away from the surgeon's knife, and that is exactly what it's done for a number of people, as it has a reported 85% success rate.

Some of the symptoms spinal decompression helps with include generalized back pain, sciatica, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, compression fractures, and joint pain.

Spinal decompression works by reversing the influences of wear, tear, and the force of gravity that compresses the intervertebral discs in your spinal column. The movie below shows how it works to relieve pressure on your back and helps decrease pain and disability.

If you live in Olympia and you're struggling with back pain, spinal decompression therapy might be the answer. Call TJ Delorie today at 724-123-1234 for a consultation or appointment.

Chiropractic Can Ease Jaw Pain Related to TMJ

Olympia Tmj pain recoveryBecause trauma to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is often rather painful, we do our best to help our Olympia patients find relief as quickly and effectively as possible. In fact, TJ Delorie will tell you that the research shows just how much chiropractic care can help ease discomfort in the TMJ.

For instance, one study published in Physiotherapy Theory and Practice included 15 participants with TMJ pain who were treated with neck adjustments, middle-back manipulation, and trigger point therapy via dry needling. Individuals were examined prior to these therapies and at two weeks and two months post-treatment. The clinicians reported positive results such as reduced pain, greater jaw movement, and lower impairment at both follow-ups.

Another clinical study carried out a review of almost 800 papers involving manual and manipulative therapy for conditions such as TMJ and found similar findings. They concluded that there is a "fair...level of evidence" that chiropractic care can help ease discomfort associated with jaw pain and other upper extremity disorders.

This is great news since the origins of TMJ are largely unknown. While trauma to the jaw or neck can cause pain symptoms, there are other sources to consider as well, such as bruxism, osteoarthritis, and clenching of the jaw due to tension.

No matter what is making your jaw hurt, call TJ Delorie now and schedule an appointment to come into our Olympia location. We'll do our best to help you smile pain-free!

Studies Show Chiropractic Care Effective at Preventing Sports Injuries

We encounter a large number of sports injuries in our Olympia office, and TJ Delorie is often able to help these athletes. Stanford Children’s Hospital reports that over 3.5 million children aged 14 and younger are injured each year when playing sports. Add that to the nearly 2 million adults injured every year while engaged in sports-related activities, according to statistics collected by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, and you can begin to see the necessity of preventing these sorts of widespread injuries. One approach to potentially realize that goal, according to a study released in BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, is to engage in regular chiropractic treatments.

In Australian Rules football, hamstring and other leg traumas are commonplace, often sidelining the players and impacting their team's odds of winning. One specific study was administered using 59 semi-elite Australian Rules footballers to see whether chiropractic could cut down on these injuries and help keep them in the game.

For this study specifically, all of the volunteers got medical treatment. Furthermore, half of them also received chiropractic sessions at the rate of one treatment per week for the first six weeks, biweekly sessions for the following three months, and one treatment each month for the remaining three months of the study. The remaining half were given no chiropractic intervention whatsoever and acted as the control group to assess the benefits of chiropractic.

After twenty-four matches, scientists noted a diminished amount of lower limb muscle strains in the group that had been given chiropractic care. Additionally, that very group also missed fewer matches related to non-contact knee injuries. This lead the researchers to conclude that chiropractic ought to be added to sports training programs to effectively decrease the quantity of leg injuries.

If you or your child plays sports and you want to ensure more time is spent on the field as opposed to on the sidelines, call our Olympia office at 724-123-1234 and make an appointment today. We will do our best to keep you in the game!
